How MakePay works with Wafeq
Wafeq’s MakePay connection combines invoice checkout with optional accounting for selected connected wallets. Start with invoice import, then enable payment recording, wallet monitoring or notifications individually when the account mappings are ready.
Each API key belongs to one Wafeq organization. MakePay displays the detected organization name, identifier and base currency before you save. To work with a different organization, create the key while that organization is active in Wafeq.
Before you connect
- An API key created in the intended Wafeq organization, with the permissions required for your selected workflows.
- A receiving or clearing account for invoice receipts; expense and revenue accounts, customer and tax mappings when using those optional workflows.
- Connected wallet addresses and confirmed fiat values for wallet accounting. A token quantity is not automatically a fiat amount.
Set up Wafeq with MakePay
- 01
Check the organization key
Open Bookkeeping → Integrations → Wafeq → Connect. Enter the key, select Check API key and confirm the organization and base currency returned by Wafeq.
- 02
Choose invoice payment settings
Select the receiving account and enable Accept and record MakePay invoice payments. Optionally add payment links to invoice notes, then check how your Wafeq PDF and email templates display them.
- 03
Review wallet expenses
If needed, enable Watch selected wallet addresses and Detect outgoing expenses. Open a confirmed outgoing transaction, confirm its fiat value and currency, upload a company-owned invoice or receipt and export the expense.
- 04
Enable the automations you want
Choose exact-reference invoice matching, approved expense export or unmatched-receipt invoice creation only after checking the customer, tax and account mappings. New invoices default to Draft. Select in-app notifications separately.
What happens when a customer pays
Verified invoice receipts
Checkout rereads the invoice customer, currency and balance. A confirmed settlement can create a receipt through your selected account, and MakePay verifies its invoice allocation. Foreign-currency invoices retain their Wafeq accounting exchange rate.
Wallet review with supporting documents
Outgoing transfers can become reviewable expenses with receipt attachments. Transfers between connected addresses and recognized MakeSwap swaps are excluded. Optional automatic expense export still requires an approved local expense, confirmed fiat value and any required receipt.
Check these connection limits
- Invoice import starts enabled; payment recording, invoice-note edits, wallet monitoring, automatic exports and notifications start disabled.
- Exact-reference matching needs one explicit unique invoice reference. Similar amounts and dates do not establish a match.
- Creating an unmatched invoice in Finalized mode can post an invoice and its receipt. Review tax mappings before enabling it; Draft mode requires finalizing in Wafeq before receipt export.
