Accept crypto payments in Paid Memberships Pro with MakePay

The MakePay Paid Memberships Pro gateway is built for WordPress membership sites that want a simple crypto payment option.

Membership sites sell access, not just products. That means payment status needs to be reliable because it controls who can enter courses, communities, downloads, and premium content.

MakePay adds a payment gateway to Paid Memberships Pro checkout. The member chooses crypto payment, pays on MakePay checkout, and returns to the membership site after payment.

How MakePay fits into PMPro checkout

The gateway creates a PMPro order in review status, sends the membership order data to MakePay, and opens hosted checkout or the embedded checkout page.

When MakePay reports a successful payment, the plugin verifies the webhook signature, updates the PMPro order, and activates the selected membership level.

Membership access needs clear payment states

A membership site should not grant access too early or leave a paid member waiting. The plugin maps paid, failed, cancelled, refunded, and processing states back to PMPro order statuses.

Run a low-value test membership before enabling the gateway publicly so confirmation pages, member emails, and access rules match your site setup.

Operations and recovery

Use Connect MakePay for normal setup. Manual API-key fields are available as a fallback for stores with stricter operational requirements.

If the WordPress domain changes, reconnect MakePay so return and webhook URLs point to the current membership site.

FAQ

Does MakePay manage membership access?

No. Paid Memberships Pro remains responsible for membership levels, access rules, invoices, and member accounts.

Can members stay on my site during checkout?

Yes. Hosted redirect is the default, and the plugin also includes an embedded checkout page with a MakePay iframe and fallback link.
