VP Engineering / Tech Lead
Lead MakePay engineering through the next stage of scale.
This role sets engineering direction for MakePay's payment platform, technical architecture, hiring, delivery quality, and reliability. You will balance hands-on technical judgment with leadership across a growing engineering organization.
Why this role matters
- Create a technical roadmap that supports product growth, reliability, and regional hiring.
- Improve engineering execution across frontend, backend, Web3, plugins, and DevOps.
- Build the habits, standards, and architecture needed for merchant-grade payment software.
What you will own
- Lead engineering strategy, architecture decisions, hiring plans, technical reviews, and delivery quality.
- Guide senior engineers across payment services, dashboard work, Web3 infrastructure, and commerce integrations.
- Create operating rhythms for planning, release readiness, incident review, and engineering standards.
What you bring
- Senior technical leadership experience in fintech, payments, crypto, SaaS, commerce, or infrastructure products.
- Ability to move between architecture, code review, hiring, roadmap tradeoffs, and production incidents.
- Strong communication style that helps teams make decisions and keep accountability clear.
Nice to have
- Experience scaling engineering teams across multiple regions.
- Background with payment gateways, wallet systems, webhooks, settlement, or merchant APIs.
- Security, compliance, and reliability experience in transaction-heavy systems.
First 90 days
- Create an engineering maturity plan across architecture, quality, hiring, and operations.
- Identify the highest-risk technical areas in MakePay's payment platform and prioritize mitigation.
- Establish a leadership rhythm for roadmap planning, technical decisions, and release confidence.
